From April 2010 to June 2012 I was an English teacher in South Korea, first in the coastal city of Busan and later in the small village of Hyeon-ri, deep in the mountains of Gangwon province.

Having bought my first ‘real’ camera before departure, an Olympus E-P1, Korea provided an exciting and compelling subject as my interest in photography took root. Everything in this gallery was taken with a single lens: a tack-sharp 50mm f1.4 Lumix-Leica.

The following five photos were taken on a short trip to Taiwan in February 2012.
